Hardy Corporation installed the 500 ton HVAC system and plumbing when this 91-bed hospital was built in 1990, and has returned to install several renovations and additions. In 1997, Hardy Services upgraded the temperature controls from pneumatic to DDC and retrofitted the interior lighting for energy savings.

“We talked with other companies, but felt that Hardy’s approach was more comprehensive. They spent a lot of time working with our staff determining the best solution and way to best take advantage of the energy reduction opportunities.”

South Carolina Heart Center

Columbia, SC

This healthcare center covers 66,200 S.F. and has four (4) floors. The design for the HVAC called for 203 tons and 81,750 CFM. The original design was based on water source heat pumps located above the ceiling. Hardy’s redesign of the cooling system called for air cooled chillers and fan coil units. This eliminated the compressor noise from the ceiling and saved over $80,000 on the HVAC installation.
