Regions Operations Center

Birmingham, AL

This operations office and data center covers 300,000 SF and 3 Floors. The central plant boasts 1,185 tons with (3) chillers, (3) cooling towers, (8) pumps, (1) heat exchanger and an above ground fuel oil system with a fuel storage tank. Hardy provided all HVAC systems including (263) VAVs, (11) AHUs with energy recovery coils and humidifiers, 140,000 lbs of double wall spiral and 87,000 lbs of sheet metal duct.

University of Alabama, Northeast Campus Central Plant Upgrade

Tuscaloosa, AL

This central plant upgrade was contracted as part of the Science and Engineering Complex, Phase 2 project. The scope included (2) 1,000 ton water cooled chillers, (1) 4,000 KW electric boiler, (2) 1,020 ton cooling towers, (14) pumps, (2) heat exchangers, fuel oil system upgrades, relocating (3) existing 1,000 ton cooling towers, chilled water piping, hot water piping, DDC control upgrades and approximately 2,000 feet of underground 32” HDPE condenser water pipe.

Baptist Medical Center Princeton

Birmingham, AL

The central plant equipment installed by Hardy included (2) centrifugal chillers, (3) boilers, (6) pumps, and gas and fuel oil piping. The plumbing system included water and sanitary sewer systems and storm water drainage.

Brookwood Medical Center

Birmingham, AL

Over the years, Hardy has performed multiple HVAC renovations, additions, and equipment replacements at Brookwood. Projects included replacing four (4) centrifugal chillers totaling 2,500 tons in the primary central plant.

St Vincent’s Hospital

As the preferred HVAC contractor for St Vincent’s main campus, Hardy has provided numerous renovations and upgrades to the campus’ central plants. Every major building and tower includes a central plant with all HVAC work performed by Hardy.

UAB Central Utilities Plant

Birmingham, AL

Following Hardy’s renovation, UAB’s central plant #1 was the second largest hospital chilled water plant in the USA. Hardy was the prime contractor and our contract with UAB included all subcontractor disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Concrete, Insulation, Controls, Painting and Roofing). The mechanical portion was self-performed. Hardy installed a new system including (4) new 2,000 ton chillers, (13) 6,000+ QPM pumps, (17) cooling towers, various motor control centers (MCC’s), electrical, piping, and all structural supporting systems.

This project won an ABC Excellence in Construction Award.

State Farm Regional Headquarters

Birmingham, AL

Hardy installed HVAC and plumbing for State Farm’s new Alabama-Mississippi regional headquarters including 1,575 tons of cooling. Phase II (adding 50,000 SF) included mechanical additions and renovations.
