UAB Shelby Biomedical Center

Birmingham, AL

Hardy provided all shell HVAC and Plumbing systems for this 14 floor, 345,000 SF medical research facility. The systems installed included 240,000 lbs of sheet metal duct, chilled water piping, steam piping, (8) heat exchangers, (16) pumps, (10) AHUs, sanitary, storm, domestic water, acid waste, lab water, compressed air and vacuum piping.

Samford University Food Court

Homewood, AL

This design-build project included remodeling of current HVAC and addition of new equipment. Air distribution was changed and enhanced. The job included one (1) 15 ton chilled water AHU and one (1) 5 ton chilled water AHU. It also involved installation of two (2) kitchen hoods, grease duct, and three (3) exhaust fans.

Birmingham Museum of Art

Birmingham, AL

Covering 3 floors and 140,000 S.F., the Museum of Art is one of Birmingham’s most visited museums. Hardy installed a 650 ton centrifugal chiller, VAV units, reheat coils, dehumidifiers, and eight (8) AHU’s with 230,000 CFM of air.

Birmingham Children’s Zoo

Birmingham, AL

This addition to the Birmingham Zoo was done while the zoo remained in operation. The schedule had to be carefully coordinated so as to not interrupt existing zoo activities or utilities. Hardy provided and installed all the new plumbing systems for the new children’s splash pad fountain and the surrounding exhibits including an ornamental fountain, a reptile exhibit, all required site plumbing and new public restrooms.

Vestavia Hills Public Library

Vestavia, AL

Hardy provided HVAC and Plumbing services for this LEED Gold Certified library. The HVAC system includes (4) central station AHUs serving an under floor VAV air distribution system. The 35,000 SF facility also includes (1) chiller, (3) fan coil units, (1) computer room unit, (2) boilers, 30,000 lbs of sheet metal duct, and multiple piping systems such as hot water, chilled water, sanitary, storm and domestic water.

Regions Operations Center

Birmingham, AL

This operations office and data center covers 300,000 SF and 3 Floors. The central plant boasts 1,185 tons with (3) chillers, (3) cooling towers, (8) pumps, (1) heat exchanger and an above ground fuel oil system with a fuel storage tank. Hardy provided all HVAC systems including (263) VAVs, (11) AHUs with energy recovery coils and humidifiers, 140,000 lbs of double wall spiral and 87,000 lbs of sheet metal duct.

University of Alabama, Northeast Campus Central Plant Upgrade

Tuscaloosa, AL

This central plant upgrade was contracted as part of the Science and Engineering Complex, Phase 2 project. The scope included (2) 1,000 ton water cooled chillers, (1) 4,000 KW electric boiler, (2) 1,020 ton cooling towers, (14) pumps, (2) heat exchangers, fuel oil system upgrades, relocating (3) existing 1,000 ton cooling towers, chilled water piping, hot water piping, DDC control upgrades and approximately 2,000 feet of underground 32” HDPE condenser water pipe.

Baptist Medical Center Princeton

Birmingham, AL

The central plant equipment installed by Hardy included (2) centrifugal chillers, (3) boilers, (6) pumps, and gas and fuel oil piping. The plumbing system included water and sanitary sewer systems and storm water drainage.

Brookwood Medical Center

Birmingham, AL

Over the years, Hardy has performed multiple HVAC renovations, additions, and equipment replacements at Brookwood. Projects included replacing four (4) centrifugal chillers totaling 2,500 tons in the primary central plant.

Jefferson State Community College Multipurpose Building

Birmingham, AL

Hardy provided and installed the HVAC system for this 170,000 SF educational building. The building contains academic classrooms, a meeting hall, culinary teaching facilities, chemical labs, administrative offices and a conference facility. Some of the equipment installed included (2) chillers, (13) AHUs, (4) 100% outside air units, (16) fan coil units, (2) gas boilers, (11) hoods, (4) pumps, (109) VAV units, (15) VFDS, 265,500 lbs of sheet metal duct and 14,150 feet of piping.
