Barber Motorsports Museum

This world class museum spans 133,000 SF and 4 floors. The museum boasts the largest collection of specialty motorcycles in the world. Hardy provided 180,900 CFM of HVAC cooling including (2) 300 ton air cooled chillers,( 6) AHU’s with energy recovery ventilators, (19) electric duct heaters, (2) chilled water pumps, ( 20) VAVs, 101,000 lbs of double wall spiral, 22,400 lbs of sheet metal duct and a customized DDC control system to keep the museum at optimal environmental conditions.

St Vincent’s Hospital

Birmingham, AL

As the preferred HVAC contractor for St Vincent’s main campus, Hardy has provided numerous renovations and upgrades to the campus’ central plants. Every major building and tower includes a central plant with all HVAC work performed by Hardy.

UAB Central Utilities Plant

Birmingham, AL

Following Hardy’s renovation, UAB’s central plant #1 was the second largest hospital chilled water plant in the USA. Hardy was the prime contractor and our contract with UAB included all subcontractor disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Concrete, Insulation, Controls, Painting and Roofing). The mechanical portion was self-performed. Hardy installed a new system including (4) new 2,000 ton chillers, (13) 6,000+ QPM pumps, (17) cooling towers, various motor control centers (MCC’s), electrical, piping, and all structural supporting systems.

This project won an ABC Excellence in Construction Award.

UAB Campus Recreation Center

Birmingham, AL

Hardy provided both HVAC and Plumbing services for this new 148,000 SF recreation facility. The building houses offices, conference rooms, four basketball courts, five racquetball courts, a full-size, indoor recreational swimming pool, a running track, a weightlifting and cardiovascular area, a theatre and five large multi-purpose fitness classrooms.

Plasticpak

McCalla, AL

Hardy provided the HVAC and all the process piping services for this plastic bottle making facility. The 140,000 SF building includes HVAC for the plant and the associated office and administration facility. Hardy also installed multiple piping services including low pressure compressed air, high pressure compressed air, chilled water, condenser water and natural gas. One unique aspect of Hardy’s scope included a custom built structural mezzanine to support process equipment and associated piping.

Powertrain Flexible Maintenance Facility

Calhoun County, AL

This LEED Certified, $85 million dollar state-of-the-art plant covers 142,500 square feet. The facility was designed with a flexible floor plan that allows for movement and adjustment of maintenance equipment and production lines to support a changing work environment. Hardy was selected as the Design-Assist Mechanical contractor for the facility. The mechanical systems include multiple 100 ton gas fired rooftop units, stainless steel and spiral duct work and exhaust hoods, process piping, compressed air piping and extensive underground process line boring.

Hardy was awarded the Army Corps of Engineers safe subcontractor of the year in recognition of the company’s superior safety record during the project.

Annison Army Depot

Anniston, AL

This $85 million, state-of-the-art plant is comprised of 142,500 square feet and was designed with a flexible floor plan that allows for movement and adjustment of maintenance equipment and production lines to support a changing work environment.

Social Security Building

Birmingham, AL

Hardy installed the HVAC system in the Social Security building in downtown Birmingham. This building spans 10 floors and includes 1,960 tons of cooling, 37 AHUs, 2 energy recovery units, 6 split systems, 2 chillers, 1 cooling tower, 9 pumps, 1 heat exchanger, 39 exhaust fans, 11 louvers, and 317,000 pounds of sheet metal duct. This project was unique – it includes an under-floor HVAC system that delivers conditioned air to occupants through a pressurized sub-floor plenum.
